— Meredith Grey – 'Take It Back'
(Season 10, Episode 13)
I am ashamed to be asking for charity, so please bear with me. I pride myself on being an independent person, but I never thought I’d end up in this situation.
My dream is to become a psychologist/therapist, with a specific focus on eating disorders and adolescent mental health. In order to do this, I need to do a lot of further study after my degree. I’ve just submitted my application for a Masters in Clinical Psychology, a one year program which costs £6000 plus living costs.
I don’t have £6000, and nor do my parents.
In order to raise this money, I would have to ask my parents to take out a loan on my behalf. This would force my dad to keep working to manage the interest, something I really don’t want, as he is now in his sixties and suffers from bipolar depression and mental breakdowns. He’s the reason I want to be a therapist.
Through saving over the last ten years, I have managed to raise £2000. I have been working every hour of every day, on my studies and at part-time jobs.
What I’m asking is if there’s anyone out there who would donate some money to helping me pursue my studies. Any money at all would be much appreciated. If you can’t donate, please signal boost this post. I will do anything - even ask this - to pursue a career in helping people like my dad, like me and maybe like you.
Donation details and ‘rewards’ are under the cut. Thank you for reading.
